A Child’s Transformation

Alisha is now studying in 10th grade and HRDC is supporting her tuition fees.

Alisha’s village in Achham District has no motorable roads. Born with genu recurvatum, a rare condition which causes the knees to bend backwards, she was forced to use her hands in order to walk. Taunted and abused in her village, she locked herself in a single room for eight months before an HRDC CBR worker found her.

Alisha’s treatment at our hospital took two years, and during that time she blossomed into a playful and curious young girl. When she first arrived her biggest wish in life was to be able to look people in the eye. As she started to walk upright, her goals soared and future possibilities materialized. She wants to become a doctor and treat children like herself.
