About Us

Since its founding in 1985 by Dr. Ashok Banskota, The Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children (HRDC) has treated more than 125,000 of the poorest children in Nepal. Grounded in the belief that no child should grow up with a treatable disability, HRDC reaches and treats children from every district in Nepal, often free of charge.

The Miracle of Healing:
A Journey of Hope in Nepal

The Vision

In a land defined by its soaring peaks and remote valleys, a silent crisis often traps vulnerable children born with physical disabilities into a cycle of poverty and social stigma. For 40+ years, Dr. Ashok Banskota has been on a mission to break these chains, believing that every child, regardless of their background, deserves the right to walk, play, and dream.

The Hospital on the Hill

Our film takes you inside the Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children (HRDC), a sanctuary outside Kathmandu where the motto is simple: "Love Heals". Witness the transformative power of compassionate care as Dr. Bibek Banskota leads a new generation of healers, carrying forward his father’s legacy with a blend of world-class surgical precision and deep-rooted empathy.

Our Strategy

Our vast network of Community Based Rehabilitation workers in the field identify the poorest disabled children in Nepal, who are often hidden away. These children are given world-class surgical interventions, rehabilitation, and follow up back in their villages. At the community level we dispel harmful myths of disability, paving the way for an inclusive society.

Our Work

In a low resource country like Nepal, disabled children face enormous challenges. Often isolated and not in school, their families struggle to support them and they are ostracized within their communities. Our work is life-changing for these children and their families. Their newfound abilities enable them to live full, productive lives.
